Players will be informed by phone calls that the animatronic animals in the restaurant will go into free roam mode when the restaurant is closed. The story begins in a fictional family shop called the Freddy’s, and you will play the night shift guard for the shop. Your aim is to survive the night until 6 am in the morning when your shift is done. You will be staying in an office alone with access to a few security cameras, using which you are able to see the movement of your enemies. Your enemies are the four animatronic characters that inhabit the facility with the main character being Freddy Fazbear. The game will restart if you are jump-scared by any of the four characters, while the game will end if you are jump-scared by Freddy. By using those camera feeds, you are able to track the movements of each character but the camera view is vague so you cannot see places too far away clearly and there are blind zones that the camera cannot cover. For blind zones, you will have to use your lights to discover. Characters can only move when off-screen so you will have to keep switching cameras to kind of trap them. All the machines mentioned above require electrical power, which is limited for players. Once electrical power is completed consumed, cameras and lights will not function anymore, and the environment will become dark. You should never leave the office and always keep the door closed for self-defense. However, when power is exhausted, the door will open automatically.

The atmosphere is amazing in this game if you are a fan of a horror movie or game. The design of the four characters as well as the phone guy is so scared to bring you a fantastic experience and create a tense environment. A “less is more” approach to design is everywhere in the game. All you will see are several rooms at night with the four characters. But these are enough to generate a horror-movie-like environment where you can enjoy fears and surprises the most. As you are switching the cameras to trap your enemies, you will have to move fast to leave no time for them to move, but they're still surprised as some of the four characters move fast. It happens when you see nothing this second, but a horrible smiling face the next second. I’m having a faster heartbeat just imagining this scene! As time is approaching 6 am and as power is out, the scariest part is coming. You cannot switch cameras like before, and you can see nothing but endless darkness, and the feeling of losing control will master you.

The game has five levels comprising five nights of the game. You will win the game if you survive all five nights and win the sixth and seventh levels after you unlock them. The difficulty is increasing level by level and so is horror. One bad thing I personally think of the game is that, once you master the game after several successful and unsuccessful practices, you will feel only to do repetitive actions by pointing to the screen and clicking certain keys. And those scared characters will no longer scare you when you are getting familiar with their outlook. So some players will get bored quickly if they master the game quickly. Another point that some people may don’t like the game is that if you don’t believe in unnatural phenomena in reality at all or you never get yourself in when watching a horror movie, you will feel nothing special when playing the game and it will become just a point and click game with funny character design.
