Overview

Five Nights at Freddy's AR is the first AR game in the Freddy horror series published by Illumix Inc. The game is available for touch screen devices and AR technology. Its gameplay is similar to the original game and players will experience the horror of this animatronic game in the first person.

As in the previous game, players must use the flashlight wisely to rid the terrifying animatronic animal and avoid draining its battery. The game features all the classic and frightening animatronics from the series, including Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Rabbit, Chica the Chicken, and more. Additionally, Five Nights at Freddy's AR is not only just as scary as its predecessor but with more realistic graphics. Arguably, this gives players a more realistic and immersive sense of fear.

Gameplay

Five Nights at Freddy's AR begins with a scary animatronic animal visiting the player's current location. The player's task will be to hunt down this robot by using your mobile device's camera. Players simply point the camera at whatever area they want to search, and if the player's screen starts showing static, they're approaching the animatronic. Once the animatronic pops up, the player can shock it with an electric shock, but if the player misses the attack, they lose. The ultimate goal of the player is to capture these animatronics. Players can then send them out to automatically collect in-game items needed to level up.

► The player looks around the room through the camera's screen.

► When an area becomes stationary, an animatronic animal appears near the player.

► Players must use the flashlight wisely to get rid of the terrifying animatronic animal and avoid draining its battery.

► Each disabled robot rewards the player with nuts and bolts. Players fuel their animatronics by collecting remnants.

► The game offers a pay-to-play option. For players willing to spend real money, they can create animatronic animals by purchasing facilities.

Okay, let’s talk about Five Nights at Fredy’s AR: Special Delivery. It’s an augmented reality game and is also known as the ninth generation of the whole franchise. It was released in late 2019.

It’s a horror game, obviously, like all the other games in the series. You will enter the game encountering countless malfunctioning animatronics and try to survive under their horrifying looks. They will legit go everywhere around you no matter where you go. You will have to use the limited resources wisely to survive. You will have to do a scavenger hunt for resources so always pay attention to your back if you don’t want to die in the next second.

I genuinely like the whole tense and immersed game with reality audiovisual attack from this lively game. It makes me feel like I’m exposed to the attack of animatronics. It’s not pleasant but by playing any horror games, you allow it to happen to you to raise your adrenaline level and who doesn’t like the feeling of surviving under horror especially when you are in the video game. I love the feature that you can send animatronics to your friends and this interactive option is quite rare in the series. The leaderboard system is also quite motivating to players if you are a big fan of the series. Who doesn’t like their names being up high on the ranking system so every other player playing after you will probably see you as their superhero? Oh, if you don't understand the meaning of AR, don't worry, I don't get it either at the beginning. It’s pretty simple, you will look around in the camera and if one area stays still, you will be clicking the flashlight and scanning the monsters, so it’s more than just staring at the surveillance camera which can be fun to do since you guys are pretty much used to staring at it.

The game doesn’t have a necessarily storyline that connects the pieces of a story. It could be beneficial to do so, but I feel like a lot of other generations already did that. So it would be fresh if see a coherent storyline. There are also some cons I want to mention with the game. The game doesn’t horrify me as much as they do in the trailer of the game. It’s a horror game so I would say the horror element has to be one of the main focuses of any horror game. The thing with AR is that you will have to be in an environment with enough light sources to adapt to this function. As someone who shares a room with someone else when at night, this is gonna be especially having to do since you are not by yourself and you have to respect others. Also living in the upper state of New York, we don’t get a lot of sunshine around here… This is a nice free game but the price range in the game is quite high not gonna lie. I wouldn’t spend 100 boxes one single time on a game. I could spend 10 boxes a time on a game and gradually spend some more, so it might be a good idea to lower the price tag since a lot of target customers can be teenagers and kids.

To conclude, Five Nights at Freddy’s is an awesome horror game that worth playing. I would recommend you to try it out and explore the world of horror and fun although I'm not sure if you find it horrifying enough or not.
